Originality

In October 2006, Artelis signed a Joint Development Agreement with ATMI LifeSciences to develop a range of single-use disposable bioreactors for use in the biotechnology industry.

To develop this new technology, Artelis and ATMI LifeSciences are also supported in their partnership by the company Pierre-Guérin Biolafitte, which specialises in devising monitoring systems.

Applications

This range of bioreactors is aimed at:

  • manufacturers of human, viral and recombinant vaccines in the 200-1,000 litres range
  • manufacturers of animal (mainly viral) vaccines in the same range
  • manufacturers of clinical batches in the field of monoclonal antibodies (anti-cancer treatments) in the 500-1,000 litres range
  • development laboratories in the above industries using the 25-100-litres range

Advantages

Today there are various solutions for creating cell cultures within single-use systems. However, when choosing an industrial bioreactor there are very few credible options.

The Artelis bioreactor is different to other reactors currently available on the market:

  • it can create both suspended and adherent cell cultures
  • it offers a professional monitoring system comparable to that of a conventional bioreactor
  • unlimited range
  • it is flexible and very small

Go to market

The Nucleo™ bioreactor with a capacity of 50-1000 liters is now available and will be presented at Interphex in March 2008.
