Origin

Artelis' initial aim was to develop cell- and viral culture techniques to overcome the problems of scaling up biotech culture processes and to provide future customers with a single-use disposable solution for cell culture. To achieve this goal, Artelis focussed on fixed-bed cell culture. Developing methods to achieve these objectives entailed inventing a special bioreactor fitted with an integrated circulation system to transform a rotating movement into a vertical one, and a unique oxygenation system. This basis has been used to develop other single-use disposable devices for bioprocesses.

Today

Since initial inventions, Artelis' technical knowhow has expanded and the company now focuses on its process intensification strategy:

  • design, development and manufacturing of innovative high-cell-density technologies, and related process development.
