Tim Carlson, Director, ATMI

  • Tim Carlson is Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of ATMI, leading ATMI's microelectronics materials packaging business unit, which focuses on providing key packaging and delivery technologies to improve process efficiency. Most recently, Tim has been leading ATMI's business development programme, identifying and delivering new strategic and product opportunities for ATMI and working to shore up ATMI's long-term growth. Tim also heads up ATMI's Knowledge-based Management and Six Sigma project initiatives. He previously managed ATMI's worldwide finance organisation as Vice-President and Corporate Controller, where his responsibilities included overseeing financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, investment and cash management, and internal auditing.

Professor Philippe Bogaerts, Director, ULB

  • Professor Bogaerts is an Associate Professor at the Brussels Free University (ULB) and Director of the General Chemistry and Biosystems Department and Scientific collaborator at the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons. He holds degrees (with high honours) in Chemical and Control Engineering from ULB and was awarded a PhD (very high honours) in applied Sciences (ULB) in 1999. His thesis was entitled: Contribution to mathematical modelling for simulation and state estimation of bioprocesses (Solvay Award 2001). His scientific publications include papers in international journals with peer reviews (29 published or awaiting publication), chapters in two books (in collaboration), 44 contributions to international conferences, and 30 conference abstracts. Professor Bogaerts also holds various distinctions (including the 2001 Solvay Award for his PhD Thesis) and is highly regarded in scientific circles. Among his other achievements, he has also organised 13 invitation-only sessions at nine international conferences, has been a member of the International Programme Committee for two international conferences and has helped review processes for 10 international journals.


Mario Philips, Director, ATMI LifeSciences

  • Mario Philips joined ATMI in 1999 with ATMI's acquisition of MST Analytics Inc, and was appointed as European Sales Manager for ATMI Analytical Systems. In October 2000 Mario moved to ATMI Packaging as global Sales and Marketing Manager. In August 2003 Mario was appointed General Manager for ATMI Packaging’s Solids Packaging business. Early in 2004, upon the formation of ATMI LifeSciences Biopharma business unit, Mario was appointed Global Business Unit Manager-Biopharma. Before joining ATMI he was European Sales Manager with FPM Analytics, a Chicago based manufacturer of on-line wet chemical analyzers. He spent four years with Ankersmit Benelux, a European distributor for analytical equipment, where he held positions in sales. Mario started his career as Quality Assurance Manager with Amylum Belgium, an international sugar syrup company. Mario Philips holds an engineering degree in biochemistry and has a postgraduate degree in marketing.
